OVERVIEW:
'Lost in Translation' is the debut album from Wellington band Evolving Wilds. Comprising of musicians Sam Hulme, Jay van Dijk (Sand Band, SOG), Frazer Hughson, Kieran Revill and Hugo Olsen-Smith (Hummicide).

ABOUT:
In 2016, after returning from time abroad, Hulme and van Dijk formed a group to capture and bring to fruition some of the ideas that had been bouncing around in their brains and off the walls of their Karori basement since 2009. Drawing on a wide range of artists in the realms of fusion, progressive, punk and jazz. Hulme's compositions are a reflection and reaction to the environments that inspired them, whether it be the concrete jungle of Kuala Lumpur; the rippling tussocks of the Tararua Ranges; or the wind weathered coastlines of Wellingtons south. Tapping into nature was the inspiration for the groups name 'Evolving Wilds' as well as their musical approach. The band's sound is built on spiralling guitar picking, floating horn melodies and frenetic drumming all tied together by rolling bass lines. 'Lost in Translation' fuses contemplative melodies, frantic riffs, odd meters, time changes and groovy solo sections. Remaining true to the bands jamming origins, whilst providing a platform to showcase their various individual musical ideas and talents.
